Tech Talk, Episode 7- The Nikon D300, Continued
January 14th, 2009
After about a week of using the D300, I am starting to explore photography like never before. Strangely enough, as the camera is so simple to use, I’ve recently opted for black and white modes with prime lenses and am amazed by the results.

Edit 3- (04/02/2008). Changed the link to my Pbase galleries of D300 shots, with a greater selection than that on Flickr.
Edit 2- I’ve been trying it out with some of my ‘prime’ fixed lenses, including a new 35mm f/2D I’ve wanted for a long while. Being able to change settings so easily and see the image through the viewfinder and LCD clearly is a Godsend and is making a much more creative use of my camera possible. It should be remembered in this context that the now-ancient rangefinders were (are) the masters in this field and preferred for their amazingly bright viewfinders. Things have taken a major step back with consumer DSLR’s and their terrible viewfinders, but the D300 goes some way to making up for that.
Edit- (24/12/2007). More photos added up on Flickr, exploring the D300’s night capacity. Unreal!
